Anyone that has been around me knows that I am obsessed with this book. It is basically an anthology of stories in the form of letters intended for the learning women of the world (which, of course, is all of us).

    Here is an excerpt:

    Condolences

For a too brief moment in the universe the veil was lifted. The mysterious became known. Questions met answers somewhere behind the stars. Furrowed brows were smoothed and eyelids closed over long unblinking stares.

Your beloved occupied the cosmos. You awoke to sunrays and nestled down to sleep in moonlight. All life was a gift open to you and burgeoning for you. Choirs sang to harps and your feet moved to ancestral drumbeats. For you were sustaining and being sustained by the arms of your beloved. Now the days stretch before you with the dryness and sameness of desert dunes. And in this season of grief we who love you have become invisible to you. Our words worry the empty air around you and you can sense no meaning in our speech.

Yet, we are here. We are still here. Our hearts ache to support you.

    We are always loving you.

    - Maya Angelou

This is a great short read. The concept of “Letter to my daughter” is derived from the fact that Maya Angelou had no biological daughters but is definitely a mother figure for many women and these stories and life lessons go out to them.

    Enjoy ;)

Toronto, Canada – Rock Da House, with that million dollar smile and signature voice is back with “We Make The World Turn.” The jack of all trades (DJ, promoter, store owner) lays his accolades on the table with this new single chanting “Anything y’all want I can get it for ya!” The relentless, thumping beat can already be heard on mixshows across Canada as DJs have organically adopted the single into their rotations.
Affectionately known as “The Hustler’s Anthem,” the song gives audiences a look at just how deep Rock Da House is in the game. Well-known both in Canada and south of the border as a die-hard workaholic, Rock takes aim as an MC and the video for “We Make The World Turn” is his first step.“This is the anthem before the anthem,” explains Rock Da House. “This song is going to introduce you to my style of life, my style of hustle, my style of winning. I don’t just do it, I been doing it. Now it’s just time for you to get to know me as the MC.”
Now available at AmbushWorld.com, the visuals came together quickly and quietly until the day of shooting when an area of downtown Toronto was turned upside down by large crowds, motorcycle tricks and the incessant chanting of “We Make The World Turn.” As is seen in the video, the cast organically took to twirling their fingers in the air while they support Rock in his boast-ridden, show and prove style raps.
While establishing himself as a DJ and diverse entrepreneur has yielded considerable success for Rock Da House over the last decade, he looks forward to making a splash in the rap game as a voice. And with so many experiences to draw from, audiences are in for quite a ride.“I need to tell my story,” says Rock Da House. “Because you have no idea the places I’ve been and the things I’ve seen. I’m a Toronto resident, living a global lifestyle.”

[Toronto] R&B singer and Toronto native, Show Stephens (one of my favourite Toronto singers) is back with his latest single, “So Into You,” produced by Beat Merchant. With the success of his ballad “So Amazing,” which airs on Canada’s top urban television network, MuchVibe, Stephens is ready for international success. “So Into You is more of a club record,” says Stephens. “It’s up tempo and different from what people would expect of me. I also wrote the song, so I hope people enjoy it.”He has collaborated with rising Toronto icons like Luu breeze, P reign, and Richie Sosa and has teamed up with noteworthy producers like Boi1da (Drake “Forever”), T-Minus (Ludacris, “How Low”), Bang society, Sound smith and many more. Stephens credits inspirations like Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Tank, Usher and many other artists as instrumental in shaping his career and voice. With a voice and image that can clearly compete with the league of current R&B artists, Show Stephens is ready to take the world by storm with his music. So get ready – it’s Show Time!
