Today, the Deborah Lippmann "Glitter in the Air" nail polish caught my eye as I was doing a little browsing. I decided to do some research and discovered more sparkly goodness. Let me just say that I am not a sparkly nail polish type of gal. I prefer solid colours, and usually matte at that (so, little to no shine). I'm definitely feeling that I may have to make an exception for these gleaming lacquers. Just in case you are unaware, Deborah Lippmann is a celebrity manicurist/jazz singer that began her own line of nail lacquer after she created a special concoction of nail polish entitled "Satin Doll' for Mariah Carey before the Academy Awards 13 years ago. The gold lacquer pictured above is called "Boom Boom Pow" and rightfully so. It is super glam and contains 24K gold dust. Lippmann doesn't only carry glitter nail polish in her line, the selection is (almost) endless.

The nail polish ranges from $16 to $18 a bottle (so double the cost of O.P.I) , you can pick them up at Holts, Donato Spa (Yorkdale, Don Mills, Sq 1), and Blo Bar if you are in the GTA. Unfortunately if you live in Canada you cannot order them online. I would advise getting colours that you cannot find in any other brand just so that you are spending wisely. Check out my glittery picks below ;)

If you are into the whole street-style movement, the name Bill Cunningham should most definitely ring a bell. Bill is a photographer for the New York times and has been for some time now. Most people would agree that the Harvard graduate is the man responsible for bringing about/developing street-style in a real way. The Documentary will be premiered today at Eco Fashion Week in Vancouver! The preview is heart-dropping and inspirational.

New York jewelry designer Kara Ross has some beautiful iPad cases. I had absolutely no interest in the iPad until I saw them... Backwards, I know, but now I want an iPad. It comes in Python Snakeskin with your choice of a coral (above) or blue (below) tab. I ADORE these cases. They are sold out on most online stores, but you can also find them at Holt Renfrew.

A friend of mine put me on Line Knitwear a few months ago and I have been obsessing ever since. Line Knitwear was created in 2000 by long time friends, John Muscat and Jennifer Wells, out of North York. As the name suggests it is a line comprised of knit pieces and very original pieces at that. If you want to see some innovate knit designs I suggest you check out their F/W 2011 Collection in the clip and photos below.

    Hello Ladies... and some gentlemen

We have had some inquiries about the crackling nail polish mentioned on my previous post, so let me give you the 411. The LCN lacquer mentioned is one that is for professional use. This means that there are very few places that will sell it to regular nail polish fiends and it is usually only distributed to nail salons, spas etc. BUT, I spoke to an LCN rep and if you are in the GTA there is one distributor that you can purchase it from, Iberness Esthetics. It is located in Concord (so Vaughn) and their address can be found below.

If you feel that traveling to Vaughn to purchase nail polish is out of the question, there are alternatives. China Glaze carries 6 different shades in their Crackle lacquer line (White, Grey, Black, Blue, Pink and Mauve). They are also a professional line and therefore would have to be purchased through a salon. Currently the China Glaze Crackle collection is on back order just about everywhere in Ontario so you would have to keep checking in with your local lacquer dealer ;) Also, as previously mentioned O.P.I will be dropping 5 more shades of Shatter in May (below).

For now, you can find the Black Shatter at Trade Secrets! :)

The French designer, Alexandre Vauthier, counteracts the notion that being a new/young designer makes you less appealing and/or classic. He launched his line in 2009 and has been creating show stopping garments ever since. As soon as you see his work, directing your attention elsewhere becomes difficult - he's just that talented. I really appreciate the way that his clothing plays up the curves on a woman's body. They are always very flattering and very sexy.

I am positive that no one has forgotten the green Vauthier suit that Rihanna wore to the 2010 Echo awards, it had the right amount flow and just enough snug. The perfect balance.

Recently I've noticed some throwback photos of Tyra Banks circulating the web. I absolutely adore these photos. Despite her strange antics and unfunny jokes, there is no denying that she will always be one of the baddest of all time.

A few days ago Jennifer Le of 2 Bitchez Deep launched her own personal style diary online at Jennifer-Le.com. The photos are lovely, my favorite is the one above. Kudos to any woman that can throw on a pair of stripper platforms and make them haute, and of course those sheer harem pants are everything. LOVE.

H&M is known to always have great finds that are always runway inspired. Personally, I would not shop there every week, because I feel like you could end up looking like an H&M stan/clone (I know you've seen them) - with that said, I love going there to pick up nail polish, lip balm and some accessories. The quality of the nail polish at H&M is actually really good and somewhat reminiscent of OPI but instead of my regular two coats, I find that it is best to add a third with their nail polish. Recently they have added new colours to their nail lacquer collection. The colors are GREAT, they are very Spring/Summer. I really really love them and I think that you should check them out! The connection between Fashion, Beauty and Art is one that is undeniable. Fashion and Beauty is in itself an art form, so when the painter/sculptor Danny Sanz became a make up artist/teacher and started her own beauty line, it was no surprise. Sanz created the first professional make-up school in Europe in the 70s, so there is no need to question her knowledge when it comes to beauty products. Her makeup line is one that is versatile and can be used in all art categories.

Over the weekend, I got my hands on a recent copy of Vogue India and loved every minute of it. It was filled with page after page of beautiful brown skinned brunettes. The fashion was BREATHTAKING and clearly culturally influenced - it is now on my list of magazines to stay updated on. I came across a designer by the name of Suneet Varma and began to do more research. Varma is one of the biggest designers out of India right now.

He designs for films, movies, red carpet events and even royalty. The cultural subtext in his garments are very obvious and are one of the main reasons that they are so beautiful. The fluidity integrated with the use of bright colour give his work an aura that is almost reminiscent of fairytales. He has recently done collaborations with BMW, laptop skins for Hewlett Packard and accessories for Judith Leiber, which speaks volumes about his diversity as an artist.

Dr. Scholl's now has a product called "Fast Flats". This means that you can now purchase a pair of flats folded into a small gold clutch/purse. When I first saw this I was quite appalled. I really feel that you should be able to muster up the strength to keep your heels on throughout the whole night/evening/day without changing into some horrific pair of misshaped flats that will most likely set off your outfit... and not in a good way. What's worse is the little gold purse that accompanies it. I can't imagine why anyone would want to carry such a thing around (in public) for any reason. On the other hand, this product was probably created for the plethora of girls I see at the end of a night out walking bare feet. Shocking, I know, but I've seen it. I also had the idea that maybe these Fast Flats are intended for the "Walk of Shame" the next morning... Either way, it seems ironic that the slogan on the front of the box reads "Don't let your heels ruin your night!" Is anyone else confused? A nice pair of heels should make you feel confident and if anything, make your night that much more enjoyable. At the end of the day, if you can't take the heat, save the 6 inch heels for the women that can walk in them.

The European designer duo Kron Kron brings you the KR 14 shoe. I find this shoe to be one that is very interesting. I appreciate the structure combined with the use of shiny materials, but I feel that it should be worn cautiously! If worn with too much colour it may make your look clownesque, but if it were to be combined with something simple (i.e all black) the Kron shoe would be a complimentary accent. The KR 14 has a 4 1/2 inch heel and a 1 inch platform so it is definitely super comfortable.

Tranquilista is a novel written by the designer, writer and yoga teacher, Kimberly Wilson. It is 170 pages of organization, meditation, goal setting as well as beauty tips and tricks. She defines a Tranquilista as a woman who "embraces her many sides: spiritual, creative and entrepreneurial". This novel reminds the reader of the importance of finding balance and down time in their hectic lives and also offers some insight on being an entrepreneur. There are a few It is a very easy read and I definitely recommend it for the modern woman.

After 10 years of being the Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue, the 57-year-old Carine Roitfeld has resigned by stating that she wants to focus on personal projects. She has been replaced by Emmanuelle Alt who had previously been the Fashion Director of the French magazine since she joined Vogue in 2000.

I recently discovered a fairly new nail product called "Shellac". It is a type of gel nail polish that is applied by professionals and uses a UV lamp to dry it within seconds of application. Shellac nails last up to 3 weeks with no chipping and are super resistant. This gel substance can be removed by soaking nails in acetone for about 12 minutes and causes virtually no damage.

I have come to the realization that a lot of ladies are afraid of lip liner. I think when one hears the term "lip liner" they automatically get unpleasant flashbacks of make-up in the 90s. Although I am actually still a fan of that now "passe" look, lip pencils are very useful in creating a modern day appeal.

Applying lip pencil around your lips before applying lipstick will give you a fuller look. Also, if you find it difficult to apply lipstick without going outside of the boarders of your lips, lip pencil is your friend! You can trace the outline of your lips beforehand and avoid any type of lipstick bleeding throughout the day/evening. You can also use lip pencil to fill in your lips completely and then apply lipstick over top of it, this too will prevent bleeding. There are so many different colors and textures of lip pencil that it is very easy to find a shade that matches whatever lipstick you use. I recommend any of the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils from NARS. Although these lip pencils can be used as lipstick, I prefer to use them as an outline before applying my lipstick.

After much controversy, the Dior show went on without Galliano. Needless to say, the Fall 2011 Dior collection was beautiful. I adored the fur trimmings that were seen throughout the show. Although I loved the layering, dark hues and boots at the start, the cocktail dresses near the end really took my breath away. My favorite piece is the gown shown above!
