TORONTO - There's a new artist emerging out of our city named KID KOLD, a member of the Young Veterans whom's cypher was pulled off YouTube courtesy of BET, who really has a love for HipHop. KID KOLD took it upon himself to release his new track this year as a tribute to J Dilla and to commemorate the 5th anniversary of his death.

Over the weekend, I got my hands on a recent copy of Vogue India and loved every minute of it. It was filled with page after page of beautiful brown skinned brunettes. The fashion was BREATHTAKING and clearly culturally influenced - it is now on my list of magazines to stay updated on. I came across a designer by the name of Suneet Varma and began to do more research. Varma is one of the biggest designers out of India right now.

He designs for films, movies, red carpet events and even royalty. The cultural subtext in his garments are very obvious and are one of the main reasons that they are so beautiful. The fluidity integrated with the use of bright colour give his work an aura that is almost reminiscent of fairytales. He has recently done collaborations with BMW, laptop skins for Hewlett Packard and accessories for Judith Leiber, which speaks volumes about his diversity as an artist.

Dr. Scholl's now has a product called "Fast Flats". This means that you can now purchase a pair of flats folded into a small gold clutch/purse. When I first saw this I was quite appalled. I really feel that you should be able to muster up the strength to keep your heels on throughout the whole night/evening/day without changing into some horrific pair of misshaped flats that will most likely set off your outfit... and not in a good way. What's worse is the little gold purse that accompanies it. I can't imagine why anyone would want to carry such a thing around (in public) for any reason. On the other hand, this product was probably created for the plethora of girls I see at the end of a night out walking bare feet. Shocking, I know, but I've seen it. I also had the idea that maybe these Fast Flats are intended for the "Walk of Shame" the next morning... Either way, it seems ironic that the slogan on the front of the box reads "Don't let your heels ruin your night!" Is anyone else confused? A nice pair of heels should make you feel confident and if anything, make your night that much more enjoyable. At the end of the day, if you can't take the heat, save the 6 inch heels for the women that can walk in them.

Today we commemorate the life of the plaid shirt. This trend is over, people. In fact, it's been over for years now. The plaid shirt is a favourite for brands such as Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister. Unfortunately, however, it continues to reappear every season. This season it's been redesigned with a hood [enter sarcasm]! Personally, I feel that once a style has trickled its way down to department stores (by this I mean Wal-Mart, not Neiman Marcus, Macy's, etc.), it's a good indication that the trend is over. Plaid has become an epidemic! It needs to be stopped. There is no longer a need to bring the country into the city. So, bury your plaid shirts until this trend resurfaces...and it will eventually make a comeback.

Until that time, however, we bid you adieu, plaid. Be proud in knowing that you survived far too long.

    Love always,

    Me

The 40th annual Juno Awards took place tonight in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre and non other than hometown hero Drake hosted the evening. Drake opened up the show with a musical/comedy sketch with Chilly Gonzales on the piano. He did another hilarious sketch called 'Old Money' where he swagged out some seniors. There was also a tribute to Shania Twain who was honoured into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the legendary Neil Young was in the building who was honoured with the Humanitarian Award. Performances of the night included Hedley, Arcade Fire, Chromeo and many more. It was disappointing to not see any hip-hop or R&B artists perform; would have loved to see Shad going in with 'Yaa I Get It' or even Kardinal Offishall closing it out with 'The Anthem'. Nonetheless congrats to all the Canadian winners and nominees. Check out the full list of the 2011 Juno winners and nominees here. Leave a comment below and tell us what you thought about the Junos this year.

a pair of shoes with which one has a strong affinity

The European designer duo Kron Kron brings you the KR 14 shoe. I find this shoe to be one that is very interesting. I appreciate the structure combined with the use of shiny materials, but I feel that it should be worn cautiously! If worn with too much colour it may make your look clownesque, but if it were to be combined with something simple (i.e all black) the Kron shoe would be a complimentary accent. The KR 14 has a 4 1/2 inch heel and a 1 inch platform so it is definitely super comfortable.
